If you’ve been longing for a slower, more soulful way to paint, you’re in the right place.
Painted Horizons invites you to pick up your watercolours and explore a free-flowing, intuitive, “no mistakes” approach to painting landscapes, seascapes, and treescapes. Through soft skies, layered textures, and organic marks, we’ll capture the restorative feeling of being in nature.
There’s no pressure to get everything perfect. Instead we’ll focus on the feeling of a place: the mood, the light, and the colours. You don’t need a studio full of supplies or the ability to paint realistically—just a willingness to play, explore, and trust the process

Painted Horizons includes six step-by-step projects that move between expressive abstraction and loosely interpreted landscape scenes. From soft skies and ocean studies to layered mountains and tree-filled scenes, we’ll explore both atmosphere and form.
Each project is filmed from start to finish with thoughtful guidance, gentle reflections, and space to make the process your own.
You’ll also receive bonus videos where I share how I set up my watercolour palette, choose colours, add mixed media touches, and frame finished pieces.
Altogether, it’s a comprehensive, calming course designed to support you through every step of creating your own stunning abstract landscapes.

Meet Laura, your teacher
Hello, I'm Laura. I'm a mixed media artist from Adelaide, South Australia. Over 10 years ago, I picked up a paintbrush. I had two young children, and like many mothers, I felt a little lost among all the nappies.
As soon as I reconnected with my creativity, I felt a spark. I quickly fell in love with all things art—the yummy supplies, the supportive community, and the sense of purpose and satisfaction that came from doing something I truly loved.
I followed my passion and built a beautiful, messy life around it. Things rarely went to plan, but I amazed myself with the things that I could do. From selling my work at markets and cafes to running a retreat in Bali, licensing my art to top brands, and hosting a top-rated art podcast.
Tapping into my creativity gave me clarity, confidence, and a sense of calm—and it can do the same for you.

Materials & Supplies
We begin with the basics—my go-to brushes, a favourite watercolour palette, and a few trusted mixed media tools. There’s a full supply list included, but please don’t feel you need everything.
You can start with what you already have and build slowly. My hope is that you feel supported and inspired, not overwhelmed.

Colour Confidence
Colour is an important part of this course. In each lesson, I’ll share the palette I’ve chosen and explain why, helping you understand how colours work together and how swatching can support your creative decisions.

Intuitive Mark-Making
We’ll also focus on building confidence in your mark making, encouraging you to take risks and explore different materials and approaches. Not every painting will be a masterpiece and that is okay!

Pushing the Edges
As with all my classes, I love to provide options. The lessons offer a mix of minimal-style landscapes and expressive approaches, giving you space to explore and stretch the boundaries of your own practice.
Move Through the Lessons at Your Own Pace
There’s no set order you have to follow. You’re welcome to move through the lessons one by one or skip ahead to the project that’s calling your name. Trust your instincts and make this course your own. You’ll have lifetime access, so you can revisit the lessons anytime you need a creative reset.
The main projects in Painted Horizons include:
Textured Landscapes
Still Horizons
Layered Mountains
Coastal Compositions
Moody Seascapes
Whispering Trees
And there are a few bonus lessons tucked in too—quiet extras to support your journey.
Love from past students……

Bree Edge
I don't think it is too bold of me to say that my art improved immediately. I now have people regularly asking to purchase my work, which is incredibly rewarding. These classes have helped to feed my creativity immeasurably, and I am forever hanging out for the next one!

Xueling Lee
Laura presents incredibly useful tips in a structured way, while still providing space and encouragement for students to pursue their own creative instincts. I used to think abstracts were beyond me, and thanks to Laura, I now only paint abstracts! I’ve watched all her classes literally countless times, and yet each time, I still find something new.

Gunjan Bhargava
Laura Horn is a brilliant teacher. I have taken all of her classes. They are like meditation to me and have given me skills in mixed media, abstracts, botanicals and so much more. I am waiting eagerly for her new course to begin.
