What Supplies Will I Need?
Substrates:
- Watercolour paper (300gsm or heavier)
- Pre-gessoed canvases (various sizes, e.g. 12” x 12” and larger e.g. 40" x 40")
Tools & Mediums:
- Palette, water container, paper towel
- White gesso and glazing fluid
- Catalyst blades, palette knives, or household items like credit cards for texture
- Water spray bottle
Brushes:
- Flat and detail brushes in various sizes
- Firm bristle brushes for texture
Mark-Making Supplies (Optional):
- A variety of oil pastels, crayons, or paint pens (e.g. Caran D’Ache Neocolor II, Posca Paint Pens)
Acrylic Paint:
- A mixture of fluid and heavy-bodied acrylic paint
- Some of my favourite colours include: Burnt Sienna, Titan Mars Pale, Titan Buff/Antique White, Sap Green or Olive Green, Anthraquinone Blue, Payne’s Grey, Raw Sienna, Phthalo Green, and Phthalo Blue.
Optional Extras:
- Oil sticks (e.g. Olive Green, Antique White)
- Stencils for added texture
